Event Overview

Because Historic Eatonville is rooted in four fundamental foundations; faith, family, education and civic pride, our organization has always included a Christian Ecomenical worship service as part of the festival service events.  It has been tradition to hold the worship service at the St. Lawrence African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church because this congregation was actually organized before the incorporation of the town; and because the organization has been historically supportive of the mission of the Association to Preserve the Eatonville Community.

Reverend Jerrold W. Smith

Reverend Jerrold W. Smith was born and raised in Harvey, Illinois. He was baptized at the age of eight at Bethlehem Temple Missionary Baptist Church, where his father served as pastor. Jerrold is married to his beloved wife, Crystal. They are proud parents of two children, Joslyn and Jarrett.

In 2003, Rev. Smith and his family moved to Florida and joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Eatonville under the leadership of Rev. Willie C Barnes. It was at Macedonia that he accepted his call to preach the gospel in October 2005.

Rev. Smith currently serves as the full-time Church Administrator at Macedonia. He is a member of the executive team and assists the pastor in various capacities. Each weekday at 7:30 a.m. Eastern Time, he shares an Inspirational Nugget on Facebook and YouTube.
