The Zora Neale Hurston Festival of the Arts and Humanities Education Day (ZED), is the official first day of the Outdoor Festival of the Arts. This event takes place from 9a – 7p and is located on the festival grounds in Eatonville, Florida, popularly known as the nation’s oldest incorporated African-American township. Guests and performers come from all over Florida, as well as the nation to perform and embody Zora’s spirit of achievement.
ZED draws an impressive population of 5,000 – 10,000 elementary to high school age students from all over the nation. In 2017, ZED will include additional programming for college students.
