A Call to High School Students Interested in Creative Writing

Prosperity Publications LLC, a San Antonio-based company, in collaboration with the Zora Neale Hurston Festival of the Arts and Humanities (ZORA! Festival), will conduct Creative Writing Workshop for High School Students sessions on “Education Day,” Friday, January 31 (2014) at the 25th Annual ZORA! Festival.


The workshop will introduce high school students to the craft of writing fiction, with the goal being to assist them in advancing their writing skills. Two sessions, 9:30 – 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM – 12 Noon will be offered. The sessions will be conducted in the Council Chambers of the Eatonville Town Hall, 307 East Kennedy Boulevard in Eatonville and the title for both sessions is “How to Get Started: A Lesson for the Young Novelist” and will be presented by Frederick Williams, Executive Editor and President of Prosperity Publications and by D. L. Grant, Assistant Branch Manager, at the Carver Branch of the San Antonio Library.


Interested students must submit a 150 – 250 word writing sample no later than Friday, Novcmber 15 (2013) explaining why they want to register for the Creative Writing Workshop. Students will receive written notice of standing no later than Friday, December 15 (2013). Only students who have received written notice of acceptance will be permitted to attend these sessions.


By November 15, each student must return a completed registration form along with a notarized parental form to ZORA! Festival 2014, Creative Writing Workshop for High School Students, 227 East Kennedy Boulevard, Eatonville, Florida 32751.
